The CIO Marathon

The CIO Marathon is held annually by the CISE Education Fund, an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit formed by CISE, a professional community of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) with a commitment to improve and develop the capabilities of the next generation of technology professionals in the Bay Area, provide mentoring to such professionals, and raise funds for student scholarships. The members of CISE include the current and former CIOs of leading Bay Area companies. These CISE members are the "decision making" members of their technology organizations and volunteer their time to hear companies pitch a new product or strategy and provide feedback. Also includes a slide template for “Selling to CIO training” and one dry run of your presentation. Every company can also have up to 2 guests at the dinner on October 16th.

What Past Presenters Are Saying

"As tech professionals navigate fast-evolving business obstacles, the CIO Marathon can be a secret weapon for success. Getting strategic insights directly from the c-suite to dial-in on that all-important pitch changes everything."

How the CIO Marathons Works

The presenting company makes a contribution to the CISE Education Fund and presents its technology offering to a group of effective (and opinionated) CIOs, Directors and Technology Executives. The Marathon includes a portion of the CISE membership and affiliates: a total of over 50 Bay Area IT executives. The CIO team volunteers its time and receives no portion of the contributions to the CISE Education Fund.

Participating technology and other professionals from donating companies have used these sessions as try-outs for radical new technology approaches, dry runs for media rollouts, and tests for the appeal of product modifications. The CIO team is committed to providing direct, constructive feedback and suggestions as requested: from the basic concept of the technology, strategic discussions about timing and pricing, to the method of presentation and effectiveness.
